Bryce Canyon, Zion, Devil's Garden and Kodachrome Basin
Utah's Canyon Country "Alumni" Night Workshop
Join us for an exciting 6 day astrophotography workshop. We will have the opportunity to photograph some of the most breathtaking locations in the Southwest.
Photograph the most majestic landscapes of Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks, along with the surreal high desert landscape of Devil's Garden and Kodachrome Basin.
October is a stunning time to visit Southwest Utah.
In Zion National Park, the cottonwoods along the Virgin River display their stunning autumn colors. At the same time, Bryce Canyon boasts pristine air, awe-inspiring sunrises, and some of the darkest skies that are truly remarkable.
Zion National Park Details:
2 Nights / 2 Days
We'll kick off our journey in Zion’s breathtaking canyon, where towering sandstone walls in shades of crimson and orange rise over 1,000 feet above the canyon floor.
Zion National Park transforms into a breathtaking scene during the fall season, with its vibrant colors and majestic canyon walls coming to life.
The highlight of this picturesque park is the Narrows, a stunning sandstone canyon sculpted by the flowing Virgin River. The way light dances and creates shadows within the canyon gives off a magical and surreal ambiance that is truly captivating.
This workshop will provide you with the opportunity to explore the Narrows in depth, allowing you to capture both well-known and hidden gems through your lens. You will not only enhance your photography skills but also gain a deeper appreciation for the natural wonders of Zion National Park.
The "Narrows" Photography Journey:
Easy to Moderate / 3 miles each way.
Autumn is particularly enchanting for this hike, as lower water levels and a gentler current make for easier navigation.
The "Bottom-Up" hike invites you to embark on an upstream journey of approximately 3 to 5 miles before turning back, ensuring you experience the best photographic opportunities along the way.
Each twist and turn of the river unveils yet another stunning scene, prompting frequent stops to set up your camera and tripod for that perfect shot.
Our adventure begins at the Temple of Sinawava, where you’ll first stroll a mile along the paved "Riverside Trail." Upon reaching the trail's end, we will step into the river and start your ascent.
Roughly 1.5 miles after entering the water, we will encounter a small stream flowing in from the right, marking the entrance to Orderville Canyon.
While this area has its own unique allure, the true beauty of the Virgin Narrows lies ahead, so we will continue along the main channel.
After passing Orderville, the canyon narrows significantly, leading us into the captivating section known as "Wall Street," where breathtaking photography opportunities abound for the next two miles.
After photographing "Wall Street" we will start heading back.
